The Great Barrier Reef
My biome of study is The Great Barrier Reef. It is located just off the coast of Queensland, Australia in the Coral Sea. It covers 344,000 km² in area and stretches 2,300 km in length.
There are actually cold and warm coral reefs. Cold reefs typically get less sunlight and therefore tend to be less colorful, however this does not apply to all. Warm reefs tend to be in shallow areas that get plenty of sunlight. This in turn makes them more colorful then the cold reefs. |
